Retired director of theatre at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke. Now a writer, I have finished two novels, and I am editing them for publication. I am a widower but in a relationship which will lead to marriage some day if not sooner. I am father of four daughters, step father to three young men and a young woman, a grandfather 15 times over and great grandfather of three boys and a girl. Born in Indiana I have lived in Virginia 30 years, seven in Martinsville and the rest in Roanoke. Northern Indiana is where I am from, and Indiana University is where I earned my baccalaureate degree. My master's degree I earned from Hollins University.
I started out as a newspaper reporter/editor in Indiana. The first newspaper was the Greenfield Daily Reporter and the second was The Mt. Vernon Democrat. I did news, sports, photography, and editing at both papers.
Wanting to teach I finished my degree in education and taught for about 30 years in Indiana and Virginia. My subjects were English, journalism, composition, photograhy, and acting. My last post was at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke where I directed the theatre program.
Now I write. That's all. Write. Anything and everything that comes along. I blog at http://gaylordcat.livejournal.com. I am very poor at keeping it up, but I have vowed to do better although I have not chosen when.
I am an obsessed cat fancier, ruled by a tabby I call Millie. I do not know her real name because she has never told me. That she responds to the name I have chosen for her makes me believe she has accepted me as part of her staff. Actually, I am her staff for all practical purposes, which means supplying her with food and a litter box and tummy rubs on demand.
That's about all. Google me for some links to my writing. Pray for me in my hour of need, namely an agent to get my novel published. My lunch is burning. Bye.
