I don't think any information on budgeting is complete with out a link to Dave Ramsey's website.  He has dedicated his life's work to helping people get out of debt and take control of their money.  http://www.daveramsey.com/    He has helped several thousands of people become the master of their money rather than vice versa.

    Re: Budgeting.

I am with you Rob.  Under the guidance of Dave Ramsey's program and Crown Financial we became debt free.  It took us several years but now with almost 3-4 years debt free it is so comforting to know we are no longer slaves to the lender.  Anyone can do it....

Stay away from rip off get rich or get debt free easy schemes....

    There are many out there:

    DebtCONS or consolidations

    Money Merge multi-level marketing schemes

    no-money down etc

If it seems easy and anyone can do it, than stay away.  Think about how long it took to aquire all your debts does anyone honestly believe you can end it all painlessly and quickly?  It isn't easy but it is possible.  Live intentionally.

    Re: Budgeting.

We save money in many ways that may not be acceptable/feasible to ALL families but it works for us. We have 4 children full time and 2 part time (joint custody from the ex wife) but we find that buying brand new clothes and still maintaining that "Name Brand" expectancy from your children can be expensive so we found "Once Upon a Child"for children 10 and under. We save thousands of dollars a year guaranteed in comparison to those who go to the mall or buy retail brand new. No one would ever know that my kids Nike's or Adidas came from a used childrens store or that my daughters clothes didn't come from the same place theirs did, this store specifically picks up names like Gap & Baby Gap, Old Navy, Limited Too, Childrens place, Baby Phat, Fubu, Bongo etc. They even sell gently used baby and childrens furniture, toys and accessories.

My husband and I also car pool to save on fuel instead of taking 2 vehicles , I go in earlier one week and he goes in later the next.

Our home, we are building our home little by little vs. financing an expensive mortgage. We're looking at paying only property taxes and no monthly payments!!!!!
