    Eli Lilly

What's your take on Eli Lilly's payment to local health care providers?

Great article. I wrote all about it this morning on our blog. http://legalmedicine.blogspot.com/ The payments bother me - but even more is the constant presence of the pharm reps whispering in the doctors ears about their medication... then you add in their media campaigns telling us all why we need the drug. It is a shame that making money is more important than patient safety. I have seen a doctor prescribe a med his patient was ALLERGIC to without looking at her chart. My guess, a pharm rep had been in that day and he thought that would be a good medication to prescribe, without ever considering whether it was right for the patient.

I read your blog, I may be nickpicking,  but as a CNA (well I used to be) for couple nursing homes, we are suppose to report any changes of residents to LPN or RN. They will report it to the doctor.  And we even have training to wash our hands and use gloves to prevent spread of infectious diseases. It is not really our place to diagnose residents.. we may give our opinions but it is best to leave it to the doctor.
